Academic Visit: Strengthening Relationships and Monitoring Prospects for Cooperation with Kuala Lumpur Partners

Vice Rector III for Research, PKM and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si, together with the Secretary of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Arif Nuryawan, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., and several staff members of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, made an academic visit to Kuala Lumpur on February 15-18, 2024.

This visit was carried out to strengthen collaborative relationships with USU partners in Kuala Lumpur, such as the Malaysia Green Technology Society, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and University College Sedaya International. In addition, the purpose of this academic visit was to discuss the prospects for cooperation that have been established.

On Thursday (15/02/2024) at 18.00 local time, USU held a meeting with the Malaysia Green Technology Society, which was welcomed by Dr. Sagaran, chairman of the Malaysia Green Technology Society. On July 27, 2023, USU and the Malaysia Green Technology Society officially established a cooperation that aims to improve green technology at USU and research collaboration for both parties.

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) made an academic visit to UPM on Thursday (15/02/2024) at 09.00 local time after receiving a visit from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on September 29, 2023. On this occasion, USU met with the heads of study programs and lecturers at the UPM Faculty of Forestry and Natural Environment.

During this meeting, both parties discussed the prospects for ongoing cooperation. They also discussed the plan for the NUNI event in Kuala Lumpur. As a sign of collaboration, USU handed over the USU satellite office to be installed at UPM.

On the same day at 15.00 local time, USU held another meeting with partners in Kuala Lumpur, namely University College Sedaya Internasional. The meeting was welcomed by UCSI's Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Global Rankings and Internal Audit, Prof. Dr. Kian Koh Toh and several UCSI colleagues.

Like the UPM meeting, the meeting with UCSI provided space to discuss cooperation prospects and connect the two parties. USU and UCSI also discussed potential future cooperation. The plan for the NUNI event in Kuala Lumpur was also discussed in this meeting.

The next day, February 17, 2024, the USU group had free time and decided to visit Genting Highland as a leisure activity. Then, the next day, USU finished their academic visit in Kuala Lumpur.
