Bappenas and USU Collaborate to Strengthen the Implementation of the National Talent Management Framework

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a working visit from the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) on Wednesday (December 18, 2024). The visit aimed to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the 2024 National Talent Management Framework (DBMTN) in research and innovation. The event was held at the TTU Meeting Room in USU's Rectorate Building, attended by key officials from both Bappenas and USU.
The Bappenas delegation was led by Dr. Aruminingsih, S.Si., M.Sc., Coordinator of Technology Diffusion and Innovation at the Directorate of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Culture (PTI), accompanied by experts including Ratri Septia Adiana, Ammar Asfari, Nurin Fatima Zahra, Siti Wulandari, Affan Ray Mahardika, Gatra Maheswara, Muhammad Aldi Perdana, and Rukandi.
On behalf of USU, the event was led by Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector III, and attended by Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, as well as other key officials, including the Director of the Graduate School, the Chair of the Research Institute, and the Head of the Research and Innovation Development Agency.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Poppy emphasized USU's commitment to supporting the national program by leveraging its research and innovation resources. "USU’s TALENTA program demonstrates our commitment to actively contributing to the National Talent Management Framework. With strong collaboration between universities and the government, we believe this program will positively impact the development of national research and innovation talent," she stated.
The event included strategic discussions on five key acceleration steps for the DBMTN, including researcher mobility, accelerating Ph.D. qualification for science and technology human resources, strengthening research collaboration hubs, outstanding research grant schemes, and recognizing national research and innovation talents.
Dr. Aruminingsih underscored the importance of the program in fostering a competitive national talent ecosystem. "We highly appreciate USU's participation in supporting the DBMTN. Universities like USU play a strategic role as generators of innovations that address national development needs. We hope this visit will further strengthen the synergy between Bappenas and USU," she said.
The agenda also included a direct review of USU's leading research facilities, including the Research and Innovation Laboratory and the Science Technopark, to assess the readiness of infrastructure in supporting the DBMTN implementation.
This activity is expected to enhance collaboration among universities, the government, and industry sectors in developing superior national talents. Through active participation in such initiatives, USU continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting national strategic policies and strengthening Indonesia’s position on the global stage.
