During the session, PSU presented a video profile introducing the university and highlighting potential areas for collaboration with USU.

“We would like to focus our collaboration on research and development, particularly under the TALENTA framework. Our flagship research areas include Agroindustry and palm oil, as these are the main commodities in North Sumatra,” explained Prof. Himsar.

TALENTA represents USU’s flagship research fields, which encompass Tropical Science and Medicine, Agroindustry, Local Wisdom, Energy, Natural Resources (biodiversity, forestry, marine, mining, and tourism), Technology, and Arts (Ethnic Studies).

In his presentation, Prof. Himsar also outlined several potential forms of collaboration, such as Joint and Double Degree programs, Top Scientist initiatives, and Student and Staff Exchange programs, among others. Specifically, the Joint and Double Degree programs will be managed and coordinated by Prof. Diana.

Prof. Himsar also highlighted USU’s participation in the ASEAN Intervarsity Youth Competition (AIYC) 2024, where three delegates from USU’s SDGs Ambassadors competed in the SDGs Debate Competition held at Prince of Songkla University. The students achieved remarkable success, with Haris Fadhillah Nasution receiving the PSU President Award.

Additionally, Prof. Himsar expressed hope that USU and PSU can collaborate on research under the Erasmus Plus program, enabling lecturers from both institutions to work together in mutually agreed fields.
