Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar, Open Opportunities for Foreign Students and Indonesian Expatriates to Study at USU

Doha, Qatar - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) attended The 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar, held in Doha from May 11 to 12, 2024, at the Rotana Hotel, Doha, Qatar. This activity was attended by 10 (ten) leading universities in Indonesia, namely Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Airlangga (Unair), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS), IPB University, Binus University and Padjajaran University (Unpad).
The 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar aims to provide an opportunity for Indonesian universities to present the best programs for Indonesian diaspora students and international students. In addition, various scholarship programs in Indonesia can be promoted on this occasion.
The USU delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan S.Si., M.Si., Apt, as Vice Rector for Research, Community Service and Cooperation. In the presentation session, Prof Poppy introduced various faculties and USU internationalization programs such as student exchange, staff exchange, research collaboration and summer courses. A warm response from the visitors from the Indonesian diaspora and international students.
"The Universitas Sumatera Utara's participation in the 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar was very beneficial. We have the opportunity to introduce international programs at USU. In addition, we can expand our international network and open up opportunities for cooperation with USU," said Prof. Poppy.
In addition to getting a warm welcome from visitors, this activity also received high attention from alumni with careers in Qatar. The presence of the USU delegation gave momentum to the alumni to stay in touch with each other. Sofwan Fakhrurazi, as an alumnus, expressed his gratitude to the USU delegation for taking the time to visit Qatar. "With this activity, we alumni become closer and united after decades in Qatar. As alumni, we hope to contribute more to USU and the nation."
USU's participation in the 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Qatar is expected to open up opportunities for closer educational collaboration between USU and Qatari universities and industries. USU will also be an option for students in Qatar to continue their education at the Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels.
