Komisi E DPRD Sumatera Utara Lakukan Kunjungan Kerja ke USU, Bahas Penguatan Pendidikan hingga Internasionalisasi Mahasiswa

Komisi E Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah (DPRD) Sumatera Utara melaksanakan kunjungan kerja ke Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) dalam rangka evaluasi program pendidikan serta pembahasan berbagai aspek strategis, meliputi alokasi dana, pengembangan infrastruktur, riset, dan internasionalisasi mahasiswa di Sumatera Utara.

Commission E of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of North Sumatra conducted a working visit to Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) as part of its evaluation of education programs and discussions on various strategic aspects, including budget allocation, infrastructure development, research enhancement, and student internationalization in North Sumatra.

The meeting, held at the Academic Senate Room on the 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building, was attended by members of Commission E led by its Chair, Drs. H. Muhammad Subandi, ST, M, along with his delegation. The delegation was welcomed by USU Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt, and Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T. Also in attendance were the Director of the Directorate of Educational Development, Prof. Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si., and the Director of the Directorate of Partnership and Internationalization, Prof. Dr. dr. Dewi Masyithah Darlan, DAP&E., MPH., Sp.Park.

This working visit served as a strategic forum to strengthen synergy between the legislative body and higher education institutions in improving the quality of higher education in North Sumatra. During the discussion, several key issues were highlighted, including strengthening research to produce impactful innovations and scientific publications, as well as expanding student internationalization programs to broaden global learning experiences.

In addition, Commission E emphasized the importance of improving campus infrastructure, particularly road access and the enhancement of student facility security systems, in order to create a safe and conducive academic environment.

 

USU Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, expressed appreciation for the visit, noting it as a strong form of support for USU’s future development.

“We warmly welcome the visit of Commission E of the North Sumatra DPRD as a manifestation of synergy in improving the quality of higher education. Support for strengthening research, infrastructure development, and student internationalization is crucial in enhancing the global competitiveness of USU graduates,” she stated.

 

Meanwhile, the Chair of Commission E, Drs. H. Muhammad Subandi, ST, M, affirmed the institution’s commitment to overseeing and improving the quality of education in North Sumatra.

“This visit is part of our oversight function, particularly in ensuring that education programs, budget allocations, and facility development are implemented optimally. We also encourage the expansion of student internationalization programs so that the younger generation of North Sumatra can compete globally,” he remarked.

Through this working visit, it is expected that stronger collaboration will be established between the North Sumatra DPRD and Universitas Sumatera Utara in supporting the advancement of education quality, research development, and the cultivation of highly competitive human resources.
