Dr. Philomena Dol, an expert in law and language from Leiden University, delivered a lecture on "Academic English: Notes and Challenges". In her lecture, Dr. Dol emphasized the importance of mastering English in an academic context, especially in the current era of globalization.

"English as a lingua franca in academia offers many benefits, including wider access to scientific literature and opportunities for international collaboration," said Dr. Philomena Dol. She also highlighted the challenges students and academics face in using English, such as cultural differences and difficulties in mastering specialized terminology.
Furthermore, Dr. Dol explained various strategies to overcome these challenges, such as improving writing and speaking skills in English, as well as the importance of practice and consistent use of English in daily life. "It is important for students not only to understand but also actively use English in an academic context," she added.
