MEDAN – The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has received social aid funding from PT Majoris Asset Management to support the USU Peduli program in post-flood disaster response efforts in Sumatra. The second phase of assistance, amounting to IDR 50 million, was handed over on Tuesday (28/04/2026) at the Equity Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. Previously, PT Majoris Asset Management had also contributed IDR 50 million on December 5, 2025, bringing the total support to IDR 100 million.
The event was attended by the Director of PT Majoris Asset Management, Dasrul Chaniago, and was warmly received by the Vice Rector III of USU, Himsar Ambarita. Also present were leaders from the Directorate of Cooperation and Internationalization at USU, including Dewi Masyithah Darlan and Rondang Tambun, along with the USU Peduli team.
The assistance will be utilized to support post-flood disaster management efforts in Sumatra, particularly through social and humanitarian programs carried out by USU Peduli. This support reinforces USU’s role as a higher education institution that not only focuses on education and research but also actively contributes tangible benefits to society.
Vice Rector III of USU, Himsar Ambarita, expressed appreciation for the continued support from PT Majoris Asset Management. According to him, the assistance aligns with USU’s commitment as an impactful campus actively engaged in social initiatives, including disaster response.

This support will be utilized to assist post-flood disaster response efforts in Sumatra, as part of USU’s commitment to delivering real impact to the community. We hope this synergy will go beyond social assistance and evolve into a sustainable strategic partnership, including in investment education, entrepreneurship development, and community-based social programs,” he stated.
During the meeting, both parties also explored broader collaboration opportunities. Key discussion points included optimizing university assets, potential cooperation with Majoris Asset Management as a fund manager, the introduction of endowment fund concepts for campus development, investment education for the academic community and the public, and the use of social funds for humanitarian and educational initiatives.

He also welcomed future collaboration opportunities with USU in sustainability-oriented initiatives.

The meeting further highlighted potential strategic collaboration between USU and PT Majoris Asset Management. According to the meeting minutes, optimizing campus assets requires professional and well-planned management, while the endowment fund program is seen as a promising alternative for long-term funding. Additionally, investment and entrepreneurship education are considered essential to be continuously strengthened within the university environment.
Through this aid handover, USU hopes that its collaboration with PT Majoris Asset Management will continue to grow into a productive partnership. Beyond supporting humanitarian programs, this synergy is expected to open broader opportunities for strategic cooperation in enhancing academic capacity, strengthening social initiatives, and ensuring sustainable university funding in the future.
