Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a meeting with Bank Indonesia on Wednesday (27/06/2024) at the Administrative Office Meeting Room, Administrative Center USU Building. The meeting was opened by USU's Global Partnership Manager, Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., to discuss plans for collaborative activities entitled "Medan Digifest 2024".
The meeting was also attended by USU Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., along with several representatives from Bank Indonesia, including Indra Kuspriyadi, Deputy Director of Bank Indonesia Representative Office of North Sumatra Province, Mr. Eka Putra Budi Nugroho, Assistant Director, and Zulpan Riski A, Analyst.
During the meeting, plans were discussed for Medan Digifest 2024, which will again be held at Universitas Sumatera Utara, just like the previous year. Medan Digifest 2024 is planned for three days, from August 16 to 18, 2024.
Medan Digifest 2023 was previously successfully held in conjunction with the launch of the USU Endowment Fund. This year, the event is planned to collaborate with other major events at USU. One of the options discussed is commemorating the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, which falls on August 17. "In addition, the activity of welcoming new USU 2024 students is also considered a collaboration option because it will also be held in the near future," said Prof. Poppy Anjelisa.
Medan Digifest is an event to support digital financial literacy. It includes various activities such as talk shows, fun walks, MSME and craft product markets, and product exhibitions from the financial services industry. Uniquely, all Medan Digifest participants are required to have QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard), and all payment transactions during the event must use QRIS.
"Bank Indonesia's North Sumatra Representative Office has achieved its target for QRIS usage in North Sumatra this year, making North Sumatra the only region outside Java that is most actively using QRIS for financial transactions," said Indra Kuspriyadi. "Our annual target was achieved even before the middle of the year, in April 2024," he added.
On the occasion, Dr. Arida Susilowati also discussed the importance of extending the expired Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between USU and Bank Indonesia. "The cooperation between USU and Bank Indonesia is very important, so it needs to be extended, and the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) must be signed again," explained Dr. Arida.
Prof. Poppy Anjelisa also said that further collaboration and discussion with the USU Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Affairs (DITMAWA) is needed to determine the most suitable events for partnership with Digifest Medan 2024.
With this meeting, USU and Bank Indonesia hope to strengthen cooperation and synergy in supporting digital financial literacy and providing great benefits to the community, especially in North Sumatra. Medan Digifest 2024 is expected to be a successful event with a positive impact on all parties involved.
