After successfully holding the BIGMIND 2024 roadshow in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Makassar, the mining industry holding of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), MIND ID, continued the event in Medan City. The event, which aims to encourage the innovation ecosystem in the mineral and coal sector, was held at Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), on June 14, 2024.

The roadshow agenda was opened by MIND ID's Finance Director, Akhmad Fazri, and the Dean of USU's Faculty of Engineering, Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.. In his speech, Fazri emphasized the importance of digital transformation in Indonesia's mining industry to strengthen operational efficiency. "The Indonesian mining industry is currently in the digital transformation phase, and many operational aspects can still be improved by utilizing digital technology. We hope more innovators can deepen their insights into the role of digital technology to address the challenges and opportunities in Indonesia's mining industry," he said.

Fazri also added that MIND ID, as a mining industry holding that manages various commodities such as nickel, tin, bauxite, gold, aluminium, copper, and coal, opens the widest possible space for innovation through the organization of BIGMIND 2024.

Also present at the event was MIND ID's Deputy President Director, Dany Amrul Ichdan, who delivered a keynote speech on forming an innovative mindset. "With a culture of innovation, we encourage all MIND ID employees and the general public to be active in identifying every operational challenge and presenting various transformative digital innovations," he said.

As speakers in digital innovation, Ferry Kurniawan, Country Segment Manager, Mining, Minerals & Metals Industries from PT Schneider Electric Indonesia, and Firman Ashad, Group Head Engineering from PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum, acted as moderators. In his presentation, Ferry Kurniawan explained that digital transformation is inevitable in every sector, including mining.
