MoU Signing Between the Universitas Sumatera Utara and the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia: The First Step Toward Strategic Collaboration

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions (30/07/2024). The signing occurred in the Rector's Audience Room, USU Rectorate Building, and was attended by many important officials.
The MoU was signed directly by the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., and the Head of the Education and Training Section of Rojianstra SSDM POLRI, Kombes Pol Defrian Dominando, S.I.K., M.H. Also attending the event were the Dean of the USU Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Aldy Safruddin Rambe, Sp.S(K), Dean of the USU Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP, Dean of the USU Faculty of Law, Dr. Mahmul Siregar, S.H., M.Hum, Director of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof, Dr, Eng. Himsar Ambarita, ST, MT, Director of the USU Directorate of Educational Development, Ikhsan Siregar ST, M. Eng, and Director of the USU Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Affairs, Rahma Yurliani, S.Psi.. Meanwhile, from the police side, the event was attended by AKP Arum Inambala, S.I.K., M.Si, KOMPOL Adhitya Pratama, S.H., S.I.K, and Penata Merlin Enjel Kalengnkongan, S.A.P..
In his speech, USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin said this collaboration is a strategic first step to open wider opportunities between USU and POLRI. "In the future, we will explore more opportunities for cooperation, one of which is the plan to open a special class for members of the National Police who want to continue their studies at USU. This will certainly be done if the number is sufficient to form a special class," said the USU Rector.
On the other hand, Kombes Pol Defrian Dominando revealed that POLRI was very enthusiastic about this MoU. "We see great potential in this collaboration, not only for the development of human resources within POLRI but also to support educational programs at USU," he said.
In addition, both parties also agreed to draft MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) documents with faculties at USU, which will regulate more detailed activities related to the cooperation carried out.
The signing of this MoU marks a joint commitment between USU and POLRI to support each other in developing education, training, and research that benefit the wider community. This collaboration is expected to significantly improve the quality of human resources, both in the academic environment and in the police institution.
