MoU Signing between USU and UCSI University: Strengthening International Academic Collaboration

Universitas Sumatera Utara and UCSI University Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday (03/08/2024). The signing took place at the JW Marriott Hotel and was attended by important officials from each party.

From the Universitas Sumatera Utara side, the event was attended by Vice Chancellor III, Prof. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Law USU, Dr. Mahmul SIregar, S.H., M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business USU, Dr. Fadli, S.E., M.Si., and Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies USU Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum. Meanwhile, UCSI University was represented by Professor Datuk Ts Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, FASc, as Vice-Rector and President, Sheikh Mohamed as Vice President, Group Strategy Office, and Dr. Hasnil Faizal Hushin Amri, Director, Malaysian Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Also present was Prof. Dr. Muhammad Firdaus, S.P., M.Si., Education and Culture Attache, Embassy of Indonesia Kuala Lumpur.

 

The collaboration includes various initiatives to facilitate and encourage academic and research staff exchange between the two institutions. Student exchange is also a major focus, and increased student mobility is expected from both sides. Both institutions are committed to working together on joint research and publications and exploring the possibility of licensing UCSI University programs by USU.

 

 

In addition, the MoU also aims to facilitate the advancement of USU students and staff to postgraduate programs at UCSI University. Eligibility for USU student mobility to UCSI University will follow the applicable entry requirements and module mapping outcomes concerning the standards and requirements of the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) Malaysia. Other collaborative activities arising from this MoU will be further discussed and outlined in a separate written Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).

 

The signing of this MoU marks the first step of many collaborative initiatives between USU and UCSI University. Both institutions hope that this MoU will benefit both parties, especially in improving the quality of education and research.

The MoU is expected to create a strong synergy between USU and UCSI University in various academic and research fields and positively impact students and staff from both institutions.
