Officially Establishing Cooperation, USU and Indosat Ooredoo Will Implement 'Sampah Jadi Pulsa' Program

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison to strengthen the strategic cooperation initiated at the previous hearing on October 22, 2024. The signing was held on Friday (08/11/2024) at the USU Rector's Audience Room and was represented by Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of USU, and M. Andre Reinaldy H., SPV-Head of Marketing Sumatra Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.
In his speech, M. Andre Reinaldy H. expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with USU. He hopes the agreed programs can be implemented immediately and benefit students and the community.
"In his remarks, M. Andre Reinaldy H. expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to work together. "We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with USU and hope that the planned programs can be implemented immediately to benefit students and the community," he said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., expressed her appreciation for the 'Sampah Jadi Pulsa' program proposed as a form of cooperation. "We appreciate this program and hope that it can support USU's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets, especially in terms of sustainable environmental management," said Prof. Poppy.
The signed cooperation includes innovative programs to support student and campus development. The 'Sampah Jadi Pulsa' program allows collected plastic waste to be exchanged for IM3 credit, supporting digital-based waste management and contributing to environmental sustainability. In addition, there is the INSPIRE internship program, where USU students can undergo a three-month internship at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison to gain hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry. Another program agreed upon is Collaboration Campus, which supports student creative activities through seminars, public lectures, and collaborations to increase innovation and active engagement on campus.
Several representatives from both parties attended the signing of the MoU. From USU, Nismah Panjaitan, Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Engineering; Hafizhul Khair AM, Head of the Faculty of Engineering Research Laboratory; and Joiverdia Arifiyanto, Secretary of the Directorate of Educational Development were present. Meanwhile, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison was represented by Raden Ricky Fajar Adiputra, HR Business Partner; Roby Gustomi, Head of Marcomm North Sumatra Region; Hasnul Arifin Hsb, Branch Sales Manager; and Sembodo Budhiharto, VP Head of Marcomm Sumatra, along with other representatives.
With the signing of this MoU, USU and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison hope that the cooperation can positively impact the development of education, student creativity, and sustainable environmental management. This collaboration is also expected to strengthen the relationship between the academic world and the telecommunications industry, provide tangible benefits for students and support improving the quality of competitive human resources.
