Public Lecture at the Universitas Sumatera Utara: "Jobs in AI Era" with Mr. Wanki Baek from North Seoul Technology, Korea

The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a public lecture presenting a prominent international speaker, Mr. Wanki Baek, Director of North Seoul Technology of Korea (6/5/2024). The event, which took place in the IMT-GT room of the Rector Bureau of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, was attended by USU Electrical Engineering Study Program students, with the main theme "Jobs in AI Era".

The event was also attended by high-ranking USU officials, including Vice Rector III of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan M.Si., Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita ST, MT, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM, and Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Nismah Panjaitan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.  The moderation of the event was conducted by the Secretary of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Arif Nuryawan S.Hut., M.Si., PhD.

 

Mr. Wanki Baek shared deep insights on how artificial intelligence (AI) development has affected human work. In his lecture, he discussed the benefits that AI has brought in improving efficiency and productivity, as well as the potential risks and social impacts that need to be considered.

USU's Vice Rector III said in his opening remarks, "This public lecture provides a valuable opportunity for students to broaden their understanding of the role and impact of AI technology in the world of work. We hope that by listening to Mr. Wanki Baek's thoughts, students will be better prepared to face future challenges and take advantage of the opportunities in the AI era."

This public lecture is an important platform for students to gain insights from leading practitioners in the technology industry, expand their networks, and deepen their understanding of AI's impact on the world of work.
