The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., invited the diaspora and alumni who are currently studying or working in the United States to support the USU internationalization program that has been implemented. This was conveyed by the Rector at the seminar "Indonesia Educations Towards Internationalization" in the Hall of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Washington DC, Saturday (3/6). The Rector explained that his visit to America with his team was to increase international networks, especially in America.

The Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, MBA, MA, who was a speaker at the seminar, said that he supports every partnership and synergy effort from universities in Indonesia with universities in America.

In this seminar, USU invited keynote speakers from several American universities, such as a Professor of Religious Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, New York, Prof. Etin Anwar, PhD; Professor of Oregon State University, who is also a USU Alumni, Prof. Taifo Mahmud; and Master's graduate from Northeastern University Boston, USA, who is also a USU Alumni, Armaya Doremi.

Prof. Etin Anwar, in the seminar, explained that based on the Scimago Rank, USU must start focusing on its leading study programs. According to her, 4 study programs are excellence in preparing internationalization programs: Economics and Business, Accounting, Dentistry, and Agriculture. He also said that in these 4 study programs, USU must have an international class that can be used as a pilot for other study programs.

Taifo Mahmud appreciated USU's steps under the leadership of Prof. Muryanto Amin, which seeks cooperation with various universities worldwide. According to him, the most important cooperation that USU must carry out is joint research, double degrees, and the ability to provide superior research focus. The standards of world-ranking agencies can be used as a reference for USU in shaping and building the best facilities to support students' academic abilities. USU must also realize that students are the top priority in educational development.
