In his opening speech, Sir Sofyan Tan explained the meaning of Universitas Satya Terra Bhinneka. The university consists of three words, namely Satya (Faithful), Terra (Earth), and Bhinneka (Diversity), so Satya Terra Bhinneka means that they will faithfully save the earth and its diversity. After that, Sofyan Tan explained why they wanted to cooperate with Universitas Sumatera Utara.
"Satya Terra Bhinneka University was established to answer education that leads to research. So, although there is the Tri Dharma of higher education, our institution emphasizes more on research; therefore we appointed USU to cooperate in this field of research," said Sofyan Tan.
The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara explained the priority programs that have been worked on by USU in the field of research writing and publication, as well as cooperation plans that will be carried out by both parties in the fields of academics, research, publications, innovation development, community service, and human resource improvement.
The event was closed with a group photo session and souvenir exchange from both parties.
