Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received a visit from the North Sumatra branch of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP3MI) on Thursday, May 8, 2025, held at the Vice Rector III Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the Rectorate Building
The meeting was attended by the Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., accompanied by USU's Global Partnership Manager, Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si. BP3MI was represented by its Head, Harold Hamonangan, S.E., and institutional representative Hartono.
During the meeting, BP3MI North Sumatra requested USU's assistance facilitating the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Korean Language Proficiency Exam. The test is required for prospective migrant workers applying to companies in South Korea. It includes a listening component, a critical requirement for employment selection, particularly in the Korean industrial and manufacturing sectors.
USU expressed its readiness to support the test implementation by providing suitable facilities. Prof. Poppy stated that USU's Language Laboratory fully has CBT-compatible devices and adequate audio systems. "We are open to supporting activities that benefit the wider community. Our Language Lab is ready to be used as long as it meets the technical requirements of the exam," she said.
In addition, USU offered further collaboration opportunities, such as inviting BP3MI to participate in the upcoming USU Job Fair, which will host over 50 companies from China. These companies will offer job opportunities for qualified USU students and alumni. BP3MI's involvement is expected to enrich the scope of international employment information available to job fair participants.
