The activity was chaired by Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector III of USU. Also attending the meeting were Dr. Ir. Luhut Sihombing, M.P., Vice Rector V of USU, Dr. Arida Susilowati S.Hut., M.Si., Manager of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships of USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture of USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Abdul Rauf MP from the Undergraduate in Agrotechnology Study Program, as well as representatives from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and staff from the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships of USU.
During the meeting, BRIN explained its goal of collaborating with USU to develop the potential of agricultural innovation, including collaborating in developing the Horticultural Agribusiness Closed Loop partnership. In line with that, USU has a mission to help farmers in areas such as Deli Serdang reach the downstream level of products to positively impact the regional economy.
Vice-Rector V of USU, Dr. Ir. Luhut Sihombing, M.P., also presented the Node Analysis of the Closed Loop Agribusiness Partnership System in the Form of Multi Stakeholders Collaboration (HEPTA HELIX) PSN Food Estate Humbang Hasundutan, as one of the efforts to realize this mission.
In the subsequent discussion, both parties agreed to explore further opportunities for future cooperation, especially related to the Horticultural Agribusiness Closed Loop program. Prof. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, Vice Rector III of USU, stated, “We are committed to collaborating with BRIN in developing innovations in the agricultural sector, which are expected to impact the regional economy positively.”
This visit is an important first step in building an epic collaboration between USU and BRIN to support the development of the agricultural sector in Indonesia. Hopefully, this collaboration can produce innovative solutions that can improve the welfare of farmers and communities in the regions.
