Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed representatives from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) during an audience held on Thursday (February 6, 2025) in the Equity Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., USU Vice Rector for Student Affairs.
The OJK delegation included Khoirul Muttaqien, Head of OJK for North Sumatra Province; Yovvi Sukandar, Deputy Director of Financial Services Business Actor Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection; Ditto Pratama, Head of Strategic Management Services; and Frischilia Sitopu, Strategic Management Service Administrator.
The audience discussed plans for the Student Integrity Campaign (In Camp) event, which will be held within the working area of the OJK North Sumatra Provincial Office. This initiative aims to educate and strengthen students’ understanding of the financial services sector and relevant regulations.
Preparations for the event have begun, following prior discussions between OJK and the USU Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations. Coordination with USU's Asset Bureau is underway concerning venue arrangements and billboard installation. Rahma Yurliani, S.Psi., M.Psi., Director of the Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations, who attended the meeting, requested that OJK provide the event rundown, as USU students will be involved as MCs for the event.
Khoirul Muttaqien, Head of OJK North Sumatra Province, informed attendees that the event rehearsal will be held on February 16, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM until completion. The main event is scheduled for February 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. “We hope USU students take advantage of this opportunity to gain deeper insights into the role of the financial services sector and the importance of maintaining integrity in the professional world,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan expressed her support for the program. “Such activities are crucial for enhancing students' financial literacy and shaping their character as individuals who understand the significance of integrity in the financial services industry. We at USU fully support student participation in positive initiatives like this,” she explained.
The audience also addressed the dangers of technological misuse, such as the rise of online gambling among students. “Survey results indicate that online gambling has become a serious threat affecting the student community. Therefore, we are here to provide education to prevent students from falling into this harmful practice,” Khoirul added.
The Student Integrity Campaign (In Camp) is part of OJK's efforts to provide students with a broader understanding of the vital role of financial service institutions in the national economy. The program also aims to develop a mindset rooted in integrity and responsibility.
The event is expected to be attended by 1,200 participants, including students from various universities in Medan, such as USU, Unimed, UINSU, UMSU, UNPRI, and Nomensen, as well as students from several high schools, including SMAN 1 Medan, SMAN 2 Medan, SMAS Saffiyatul, and Al-Azhar.
With USU's full support, the event is anticipated to run smoothly and provide significant benefits to participating students. This collaboration between USU and OJK in educational programs demonstrates the commitment of both parties to jointly nurture a financially literate and integrity-driven young generation.
