Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) recently welcomed representatives from the Jihadul Ilmi Foundation for a meeting to explore collaboration opportunities in education and training on Wednesday (January 8, 2025). The meeting took place in the Equity Room, 3rd Floor of the Rectorate Building, and was hosted by Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., Global Partnerships Manager at USU, along with staff from the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships.

The delegation from Jihadul Ilmi Foundation was led by Nurul Izzah Djamal, M.M. (Chairperson of Al-Ulum Islamic Educational Institution), accompanied by Bukhari Al-Ulum (Secretary), Muhammad Ridha Cakra Prawira (Public Relations Officer), and Nurlida Sari (Principal of MAS Plus Al-Ulum).

The discussion explored potential collaboration in areas such as education development, information exchange, outreach activities, training sessions, and other academic initiatives. The parties also considered cooperation in student recruitment campaigns and partnerships in strategic sectors such as culture, forestry, and public speaking.

Dr. Arida Susilowati expressed her enthusiasm for the prospective partnership.

“We warmly welcome the visit from the Jihadul Ilmi Foundation. This collaboration has great potential to support educational development, not only within USU but also for Al-Ulum,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Nurul Izzah Djamal, M.M., emphasized the importance of building partnerships with leading universities like USU.

“We see USU as a strategic partner to broaden access to education, enhance the capacity of our students and teachers, and enrich academic experiences through training programs, workshops, and other collaborative activities,” she explained.

Both parties agreed to draft a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would outline the framework for cooperation across various sectors discussed during the meeting. This MoU is intended to be flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of both institutions.

This initial discussion marks a significant step for USU and the Jihadul Ilmi Foundation in forging a closer and more strategic partnership. With a shared focus on education, training, and human resource development, the collaboration is expected to make a meaningful contribution to improving the quality of education for both parties.
