Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is again building cooperation to improve the university's quality of education and knowledge.
This was reflected in the audience of the Indonesian Photojournalist (PFI) Medan, who was welcomed by the Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service and USU Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan M.Si. on Monday (19/02/2024) in the Academic Senate Room, 2nd floor, BPA USU Building.
The Manager of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, the Head of the Office of Public Relations, Promotion and Protocol, and the Head of the USU Archives also attended the meeting. The representatives of PFI Medan consisted of the Chairman, Secretary, and Members of PFI Medan.
USU and PFI Medan explored several opportunities for cooperation that could benefit both parties. USU highlighted the importance of wider collaboration with PFI Medan, especially in journalism.
Amalia Meutia, Head of Public Relations, Promotion, and Protocol of USU, also added that writing and producing information correctly is becoming increasingly important in today's digital era. Therefore, the presence of PFI Medan as a potential partner in training these skills is very valuable.
"We are training students in an organization called USUTV. They come from various majors, so it doesn't always have to be communication science. Therefore, perhaps from this cooperation, PFI can become a presenter or coach for training and other activities," Amalia explained.
The head of USU Archives, Aisyah SE, also mentioned plans to establish a USU gallery to provide community information. With the strong cooperation between USU and PFI Medan, the information delivered to the public is hoped to be more qualified and balanced.
Chairman Riski Cahyadi of PFI Medan expressed his willingness to collaborate with USU in various ways. He emphasized that PFI Medan is ready to contribute positively to improving the quality of journalism and education on this campus.
In addition, PFI Medan hopes that this collaboration will allow PFI colleagues to continue their studies at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
Dr. Arida Susilowati, as a representative of USU, emphasized the importance of implementing concrete steps as a result of this meeting. Therefore, it is necessary to create MoU documents for general activities and MoA documents for more detailed activities between PFI Medan and the faculties at USU.
A strong collaborative spirit between USU and PFI Medan is expected to positively impact USU students and staff by improving their skills and developing knowledge of quality journalism and the quality of information delivered.
