USU and PT PAMIN Collaboration: Strengthening Student Skills through Internship Programs and Support for Practical Tools

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with PT Pacific Medan Industri (PAMIN) to strengthen collaboration in education and student training. The signing occurred on Tuesday (29/10/2024) in the Academic Senate Room on the 2nd floor of the USU Rectorate Building.
The signing was represented by USU's Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance, Dr Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP, and the Director of Operations of PT Pacific Medan Industri, Ali Saleh Ali Sulaiman.
In his remarks, Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution expressed his appreciation to PT PAMIN for the support given to USU, especially in supporting student lecture practices. "This collaboration is not only a form of synergy between education and industry but also to prepare our students to compete in the world of work. Hopefully, this collaboration can further strengthen the skills of our students, especially in building mental readiness and professionalism in the industrial environment," he said.
The signing ceremony was also attended by several faculty leaders at USU, including the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Zulkarnain, Ph.D., Psychologist, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Khairunnisa S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Apt. and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Dr. Gustanto, M.Hum. Leaders from PT PAMIN also attended, such as Maintenance Manager Bambang Julianto, Load Management Representative Eviyanti Tarigan, Senior HR Manager Syafrina Siregar, and Mechanic Superintendent Hendra.
Implementing PT PAMIN's corporate social responsibility (CSR) program titled "Care for Education," PT PAMIN previously provided the USU Faculty of Engineering with several practical tools on July 30, 2024, including blow molding machines, margarine filling machines, and several other devices.
Both parties agreed to expand this cooperation by providing opportunities for USU students to intern at PT Pacific Medan Industri and for USU alumni to participate in employee recruitment at PT PAMIN. Ali Saleh Ali Sulaiman said, "We hope that, with this collaboration, USU students can build solid basic skills and develop a strong mentality to adapt to the industrial work environment."
With this collaboration, USU students are expected to strengthen their competence in the dynamic industrial world and improve their readiness to enter the competitive world of work.
