In the meeting, the Medan City Social Service expressed its hope that USU could support the provision of experts in various fields, such as psychology, health, and social sciences, to enhance the quality of social services in Medan. Additionally, both parties discussed the possibility of collaboration with USU faculties that have relevance to social programs.

Currently, there are eight FISIP USU students interning at the Medan City Social Service as part of efforts to apply social sciences in the workplace and support the enhancement of social services in the city. The Head of the Medan City Social Service, Khoiruddin, expressed his appreciation for the involvement of USU students in this internship program. "The presence of eight FISIP USU students at the Medan City Social Service greatly assists in various social programs we run. They not only learn directly in the field but also make tangible contributions to supporting social services for the community," he said.

The Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, M.T., emphasized that USU is ready to contribute to research and community service programs aligned with the university's mission. "As an educational institution, USU is prepared to collaborate with the Medan City Social Service to provide academically-based solutions that can enhance social welfare, including through research collaboration schemes similar to the Matching Fund. The research will be conducted by USU with funding from the Social Service, and the research output will be tailored to the targets and needs set by the Social Service," he stated.

The Medan City Social Service also proposed the need for training and optimal solutions to enhance the effectiveness of social programs. One of the challenges discussed was funding, which is a crucial factor in implementing various social programs. Therefore, strategic planning is necessary to ensure that this collaboration can be executed effectively.

With this meeting, USU and the Medan City Social Service are committed to exploring further collaboration in research, training, and community service. Both parties are optimistic that the synergy between academia and local government can create a broader and more sustainable social impact for the people of Medan.
