Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a meeting on Tuesday (20/02/2024) to explore cooperation with Institut STIAMI Jakarta in the Academic Senate Room, 2nd floor of the BPA USU Building. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si, manager of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, chaired the meeting.

Through this meeting, USU and Institut STIAMI are committed to improving the quality of education by achieving Excellent Accreditation and International Accreditation. The collaboration explored covers various fields, including international competitions and performances. Academics are the main focus, with plans for collaboration in taxation research, student exchanges, national and international conferences, and summer courses.

One of the initiatives proposed by USU was cooperation in journalism exhibition events, which the STIAMI Institute responded positively to. On the other hand, Institut STIAMI Jakarta offered internship opportunities for USU students interested in doing Field Work Practices at Customs. This is based on the cooperation between the STIAMI Institute and the Customs.

This collaboration provides new hope for USU to develop a department with a concentration in Customs, which can enrich students' choice of study programs.

"We are very enthusiastic about the potential of this collaboration. This is an important step in improving the quality of education and offering diverse opportunities for students," said Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si, during the meeting.

Subsequent meetings will discuss the cooperation plan between USU and Institut STIAMI, which will be formulated in an MoU document as the official basis for cooperation between the two institutions.

This meeting marks USU's strong commitment to continue developing networks of cooperation with other educational institutions. The aim is to improve the quality of education and provide valuable learning experiences for students.
