The MoU was signed in Makassar, marking the first step toward collaboration in internal collaborative research schemes (RKI) and the receipt of foreign research grants. The MoU also covers cooperation in improving international accreditation for study programs and student exchange.
Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, stated, "This cooperation is a joint commitment to improving the quality of education and research at both universities. Through this cooperation, we hope to support each other and strengthen the potential of research and development in various fields."
Also attending the MoU signing ceremony were Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt as Vice Rector III of USU, Dr. dr. Isti Ilmiati Fujiati, M.Sc., CMFM, M.Pd, Ked as Head of the USU Quality Assurance Agency, Prof. Dr. Drs. Jonner Hasugian, M.Si as Manager of the National Accreditation Division of the USU Quality Assurance Agency, Ikhsan Siregar, ST., M.Eng. as Head of the USU Priority Program Evaluation Agency, and Sity Ayu Novarina Suyanto, S.Kom as USU Rector Secretariat.
Prof. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan emphasized the importance of cross-university cooperation in facing current global challenges. "The cooperation with UNHAS will expand our research and development network and provide opportunities for students and lecturers to participate in relevant joint projects," she said.
The MoU covers various areas of collaboration, including academic exchanges, joint research, and curriculum development relevant to the needs of industry and society. "We hope that this cooperation will not only enrich students' academic experience but will also make a meaningful contribution to the development and progress in their respective regions," added Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin.
With the signing of this MoU, it is expected that the collaboration between USU and UNHAS will positively impact the quality of education and research in both institutions and contribute to the development of science and technology in Indonesia.
