USU Discusses Summer Course Program Collaboration with Chiba University of Commerce Japan

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and Chiba University of Commerce Japan held an audience on Tuesday (26/03/2024) in the Rector's Audience Room of the BPA USU Building. Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, led the audience to discuss cooperation in student exchange and Summer Course programs.
The USU team that attended this meeting consisted of the Vice Rector III for Research, PKM, and Cooperation, the Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, the Director of the Directorate of Development and Education, and staff from the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships. On the other hand, the Chiba University of Commerce team was represented by Prof. Dr. Takako Hashimoto as Vice President Director of the International Center and Beatrice Onda as International Division Associate.
The hearing's main focus was on student exchange programs between the two universities. In 2024, Chiba University will offer a summer program that allows students to study Japanese culture and visit tourist attractions to better understand it.
Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, said, "USU is committed to enhancing international cooperation, and we are very open to cooperating with USU in terms of student exchange."
During the meeting, USU programs offered by Chiba University were also discussed. One of them is the Summer Course program, where students from USU can spend a semester at their partner university in Japan. In addition, USU offers summer courses for students from Chiba University.
Meanwhile, Beatrice Onda, the International Division Associate from Chiba University of Commerce, also provided Chiba University of Commerce's version of the Summer Course program booklet and expressed interest in supporting each other's programs. "We are interested in the student exchange program from USU and will follow up by sending our students to participate," Beatrice said.
Registration for the Summer Course program from Chiba University of Commerce will close in April 2024. They expect two students from USU to join the program. The program aims to learn about Japanese culture and visit tourist attractions in Japan. The program will be held in July - August.
The discussion also covered practical details related to the student exchange program, such as the schedule of the Summer Course program and the facilities provided. "USU has a similar program but offers 24 subjects to study for two weeks. We will ensure participating students have a rewarding and supportive experience," added USU's Vice Rector III.
In addition, the two universities also discussed the possibility of joint lectures and, guest lectures and discussions on entrepreneurship as part of the academic programs offered. "We hope that this cooperation will not only focus on student exchange but also lead to deeper collaboration in the academic and research fields," concluded Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si.
Thus, the audience between USU and Chiba University of Commerce is expected to strengthen international cooperation and enrich the learning experience of students from both universities.
