The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) met with Jasindo Syariah Insurance on Thursday (05/09/2024) to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration in education and insurance literacy. The meeting occurred at the Equity Meeting Room, USU Rectorate Building, and was led by Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., Manager of USU's Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships.

Representatives from Jasindo Syariah Insurance present at the meeting included Benni Ashraf, Abdillah Muhammad Lubis, and Ruth Kristina Yemima. USU was represented by Dr. Paidi, S.E., M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Economics and Business, and Muhammad Rafli, S.H., Staff of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships.

The meeting discussed initiating collaboration through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which would allow USU students to engage directly in Jasindo Syariah Insurance programs. In addition, both parties plan to organize a public lecture at USU to increase students' and the public's literacy and understanding of Sharia insurance.

"We hope this collaboration will have a positive impact, especially amid the public's mistrust of insurance due to various fraud cases in Indonesia," said Benni Ashraf.

One key point of the meeting was the plan to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the scope of collaboration between USU and Jasindo Syariah Insurance. This would be followed by creating a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to detail specific collaborations with various USU faculty.

This meeting is expected to be a concrete first step toward enhancing collaboration that benefits both parties and the wider community, especially in promoting Sharia insurance as a secure and trustworthy financial solution.
