The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) hosted a visit from AXA Financial Indonesia in an audience held on Monday (03/02/2025) at the Equity Room, USU Rectorate Building. The meeting aimed to explore strategic business-to-business (B2B) collaboration to provide benefits to USU, particularly in supporting human resource development and employee welfare.

The meeting was opened by Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., Global Partnership Manager of USU. AXA Financial Indonesia was represented by Eko Budi Armato, Yopi Pradikta, and Dedy Iskandar.

The AXA Financial Indonesia delegation proposed three primary collaboration programs designed to enhance the welfare of USU staff and management. These programs include a pension fund program, life insurance protection, and a program called JIO. The three initiatives are expected to provide comprehensive financial and protection solutions for USU employees, helping them better plan their future.

"From AXA Financial, we aim to offer this collaboration program. The first one is related to pension funds, the second is life insurance protection, and the third is a program called JIO, which we will further present to management to gauge its appeal," said Dedy Iskandar.

Dr. Arida Susilowati expressed appreciation for the potential collaboration, highlighting its benefits for the academic community. However, she emphasized the need for further coordination with the Business Development Agency (BPU) and USU’s finance department to discuss the technical details and implementation of the partnership.

In addition to discussing employee welfare aspects, the conversation also explored opportunities for academic collaboration involving USU's Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). One proposed form of collaboration was a practitioner teaching program, where AXA Financial Indonesia experts would deliver guest lectures in several academic sessions. Public lectures on financial and insurance literacy were also mentioned as potential activities to provide new insights for students.

"In our academic collaboration framework, we usually focus on internships, practitioner teaching, joint research, and community service. We hope this collaboration will not only focus on financial aspects but also contribute to enhancing the academic competencies of USU students," said Dr. Arida.

As a follow-up to this meeting, both parties agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would serve as the legal foundation for the collaboration. The document will be submitted to the USU Rector for approval, and follow-up meetings with BPU and the finance department will be scheduled to discuss the implementation details.

Additionally, campus-wide program socialization is planned to ensure that all members of the academic community understand the benefits and mechanisms of the collaboration. USU hopes this partnership will be a strategic step in expanding its network of university partners, focusing not only on academic development but also providing tangible benefits for employees and students.
