USU Receives Audience from PT Schaeffler Solutions Indonesia to Explore Cooperation

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received an audience from PT Schaeffler Solutions Indonesia on Friday (11/15/2024) in the Equity Room, USU Rectorate Building. The meeting was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T, Director of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, who was accompanied by Arif Nuryawan, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D as Secretary of the Directorate, and Prof. Rikson Asman Fertiles Siburian, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D, Internationalization Manager.
PT Schaeffler Solutions Indonesia was represented by David Nevin, President of Bearings & Industrial Solutions Japan Southeast Asia Pacific, along with Helon Rintar Siahaan, Head of Sales & Industrial Solutions; Dea Wahyudi P. Nugroho, Application & Engineering Manager; and Kondar Jonga M. Sinaga, Sales & Service Manager Industrial MRO.
PT Schaeffler organized a public lecture titled "Engineering the Future with Schaeffler Solutions" at the USU Engineering Hall before this audience. This public lecture is intended for students of the Faculty of Engineering, especially the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, to broaden their horizons regarding bearing technology and other solutions to facing future technological challenges.
Both parties introduced each other's institutions in this meeting through profile videos. Prof. Himsar Ambarita stated, "We welcome this collaboration. With this collaboration, we hope that USU students, especially in engineering, can better understand and apply the latest technologies relevant to today's industry."
David Nevin, president of Bearings & Industrial Solutions Schaeffler, said, "We see great potential in working with USU. As a global company, we are committed to supporting education and technology development in Indonesia."
Both parties also discussed various opportunities for cooperation, such as the provision of teaching aids and the construction of a bearing introduction park. This cooperation is the first step toward opening up further collaboration opportunities in the future.
This audience is expected to strengthen the relationship between education and industry and pave the way for the development of research and teaching at USU, which can, in turn, provide wider benefits for students and society.
