This audience was also attended by Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., USU Vice Rector III; Dr. Arif Nuryawan, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., Secretary of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships (DitIKG); and Nana Dyki D., M.Si., Commercialization Manager from the Research and Innovation Development Agency (BPRI). The direct presence of the product owners, Ms. Putri Nasution and Arie Nasution, further solidified the intention for a formal collaboration in the form of a licensing agreement.
Puri Aren Cair itself is an innovation based on local potential, blending traditional wisdom with a food technology approach. In its liquid form, the product offers advantages in terms of efficiency and ease of use, without diminishing the purity or benefits of palm sugar itself.
BPRI will also assist in drafting the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will serve as the legal framework for the collaboration between USU and the product owner. This license will add to USU's growing collection of licensed products, which already includes various research outputs, fostered products, and innovations from campus startups that hold legal protection such as patents, trademarks, and industrial designs.
Ms. Putri Nasution, the inventor of Puri Aren Cair, expressed her enthusiasm for USU's reception. She hopes this collaboration will not only expand the product's commercial reach but also open opportunities for further development with USU's academic community.
Through this initiative, USU will continue to support the commercialization of innovative outcomes and foster synergy between the campus and local businesses focused on research-based products with added value.
