Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), conducted a Priority Performance Indicator (IKP) Determination meeting held at the Digital Learning Center Building (DLCB), 8th floor, on Tuesday (12/11/2024). The event began with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Drs. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc., USU Vice Rector IV, and was attended by various stakeholders from faculties and work units.

This meeting aims to formulate effective strategies for achieving the university's priority performance targets, especially in the fields of Research, Community Service and Cooperation. Attended by the Vice Deans for Research, Community Service and Cooperation of USU and several work units under Vice Rector III of USU, such as the Research Institute, Research and Innovation Development Agency, Community Service Institute, and others.

In her presentation, Prof. Poppy presented the latest research and community service achievements and cooperation data, including the number of Scopus-indexed publications and the ratio of publications per lecturer in each faculty. She highlighted the achievements that have been made and the strategic steps that need to be taken to strengthen USU's position in the national and international arena. "We must jointly prioritize improving the quality and quantity of academic output to maintain and enhance the university's reputation," Prof. Poppy said. She also emphasized that achieving performance indicators is not just a number but a reflection of USU's contribution to the development of science and society.

The strategies presented include strengthening cross-faculty research collaboration, developing innovative programs, and increasing incentives and support for lecturers and researchers. Prof. Poppy emphasized that this collective effort is important to ensure all faculties align with the priority performance targets set. "Every faculty must have the same understanding and strong commitment to encourage quality research and service," she added.

The meeting also discussed the distribution of research and service ratios per lecturer in various faculties as a reference in setting performance indicators. With a systematic approach and full support from all parties at USU, it is hoped that the achievement of IKP can establish USU as one of the leading universities that excel in research and community contributions.

Prof. Poppy ended her presentation by inviting all meeting participants to actively contribute to implementing the agreed strategies. "Our hard work and synergy will bring USU in a better direction and make it increasingly recognized in the global academic world," she concluded optimistically.

With the formulation of a mature IKP, USU is committed to continuously improving academic performance and the university's contribution to developing science and community service. The results of this meeting are expected to be the foundation for sustainable strategic efforts in advancing USU as a world-class university.
