Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed an audience visit from PT Surveyor Indonesia on Thursday (17/07/2025) at the Equity Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, USU Rectorate Building. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si., Manager of Global Partnerships at USU
Two marketing staff members, Mulya and Nabila, represented PT Surveyor Indonesia. The audience aimed to explore potential collaboration between the university and one of Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (BUMN) engaged in survey and inspection services. In her remarks, Prof. Arida stated that USU warmly welcomed this collaboration initiative.
“USU is open to building partnerships, especially in line with the government’s directive for state-owned enterprises to foster synergy with higher education institutions,” said Prof. Arida.
The meeting also followed up on a letter submitted by USU’s Faculty of Public Health (FKM) regarding the planned implementation of a student internship program at PT Surveyor Indonesia. In response, PT Surveyor Indonesia fully supported the program and encouraged its formalization.
“We are very open to accepting interns and hope this cooperation can soon be formalized through an official agreement,” said Mulya.
The discussion also covered other potential collaboration opportunities between the two institutions, including joint research programs, industry practitioners teaching in classes, public lectures, and developing training programs relevant to industry needs.
Currently, USU has 16 faculties that offer opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling broader and more integrated cooperation with PT Surveyor Indonesia. To accelerate the implementation of the agreed programs, both parties concurred on drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a legal basis for future joint activities.
The partnership between USU and PT Surveyor Indonesia aims to improve human resource quality, integrate academia with industry, and support strategic national programs in higher education and innovation.
