USU Welcomes UiTM Shah Alam Inbound Student Delegation, Conducts International Service in Samosir

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received a delegation of inbound students from UiTM Shah Alam Malaysia on Monday (18/11/2024) in the Transformation Towards the Ultimate (TTU) room of the USU Rectorate Building. Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., Director of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, led the welcoming ceremony.

Several academic assistants from UiTM Shah Alam, including Prof. Ir Madya, accompanied the delegation of 30 students. Ts. Dr. Hjh. Norbaya Hj Sidek, Prof Ts Dr Azlina Idris, Prof Ts Dr Hj Mohd Fadzil Arshad, and several other staff members. Their presence marked a shared commitment to expanding international academic collaboration between universities.

In his speech, Prof. Himsar Ambarita expressed his appreciation for the visit and emphasized the importance of building cross-cultural and academic connections. “We are very pleased to welcome the students and staff of UiTM Shah Alam. We appreciate the community service program that UiTM Shah Alam will conduct in Samosir. This activity is beneficial for the community and a great experience for students to learn directly from the local community,” he said.

 

 

Meanwhile, Prof Ts Dr Azlina Idris, representing UiTM Shah Alam, emphasized the long-standing close relationship between the two institutions. She mentioned that the program is part of a strategy to strengthen the partnership and a great opportunity for students to enrich their academic and cultural experiences. “This cooperation has long been a symbol of friendship between USU and UiTM. Hopefully, this collaboration will strengthen and benefit both universities greatly,” he said.

 

After the welcome session at USU, the UiTM Shah Alam delegation continued their journey to Samosir Island to carry out community service programs. One of their main activities was to provide electric lights to residents as a tangible contribution to support the daily lives of people in the region.

 

This activity reflects the spirit of collaboration that is not only limited to academic exchanges but also involves social and cultural aspects. Through this international service, the relationship between USU and UiTM Shah Alam is expected to strengthen, opening up opportunities for various other collaborations, such as joint research and student exchanges.
