Vice Rector III for Research, PKM, and Cooperation of Universitas Sumatera Utara held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled "Monitoring and Evaluation of Academic Cooperation" on Thursday (19/02/2024). Led by Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector III of USU, this activity became a discussion forum involving all deans and related parties.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan underlined the importance of evaluation in academic cooperation to ensure its effectiveness and quality. "We hope that through this FGD, we can obtain valuable input for improving and developing academic cooperation at USU," she said.
The discussion began with a presentation of the contents of the Rector's Decree on Monitoring and Evaluation of Academic Cooperation. All deans present actively participated in providing input and suggestions for improving the document. One suggestion was to replace the terminology "External M&E" with "Partner Satisfaction Survey" to give a more positive impression of cooperation with external parties.
Dr. Ir. Fahmi ST., M.Sc., IPM, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, highlighted the need for flexibility in the cooperation process, especially regarding official documents such as IA, MoA, and MoU. "Time flexibility in document collection and clarity of responsibilities between the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships and the Faculty are important things to consider," he said.
Not only that, the deans also emphasized the importance of clarity in the use of language and diction in evaluation documents. This is to avoid confusion and misunderstanding in the interpretation of the document.
On the same occasion, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan emphasized USU's commitment to continuously improving the quality of academic cooperation for the betterment of the university and its partners. "We will continue to strive to improve this evaluation framework so that it can support the achievement of USU's academic and strategic goals," she added.
The event was closed with the spirit of continuing to collaborate and improve the quality of academic cooperation in the future.
