USU and CICEEA Host 2025 Job Fair: Bridging Graduates to the Global Industry with 24 Chinese Companies

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with the China-Indonesia Cultural and Educational Exchange Association (CICEEA), successfully held the USU × China Industries Job Fair 2025 on May 26–27, 2025. The event connected job seekers, especially university graduates, with Chinese companies operating in Indonesia.
The opening ceremony occurred at USU's Pancasila Building and was attended by stakeholders from academia, government, and diplomatic circles. In her opening remarks, USU's Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si., Apt., expressed appreciation for the partnership: "I welcome the USU × China Industries Job Fair 2025 to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers across industries."
Chinese Consul General in Medan, Zhang Min, noted that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-China diplomatic relations. "China has been Indonesia's main trading partner for 12 consecutive years. This event symbolizes the strong cooperation between our nations, and we hope it enhances the quality of Indonesia's workforce," he stated.
Representing the Provincial Government of North Sumatra, Drs. Basarin Yunus Tanjung, M.Si., Assistant for Governance and People's Welfare encouraged the youth to leverage the forum to explore opportunities and shape a better future. "We are building a stronger North Sumatra with competent human resources," he said.
The job fair featured 24 Chinese companies, including: PT. Hopson Aceh Industri, Aicha Food Indonesia, PT. Yonyou Network Indonesia, Petrochina International Jabung, Julong Group Indonesia, PT. Nusa Solar Indonesia, PT. Meulaboh Power Generation, PT. Wijaya Fittings MFG Indonesia, PT. Rainbow Tubulars Manufacture, PT. Bintan Alumina Indonesia, PT. Basic International Sumatera, PT. Aohai Technology Indonesia, PT. TJK Power, PT. Haida Biotechnology Indonesia, PT. GH EMM Indonesia, PT. Shenhua Guohua Lion Power Indonesia, PT. Dairi Prima Mineral, China Construction Fourth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd, PT. North Sumatera Hydro Energy, PT. China Communications Construction Industry Indonesia, PT. SAMI, PT. Tuntun Sekuritas Indonesia, PT. China State Construction Overseas Development Shanghai, and PT. Handa Energi Investasi Indonesia.
On the second day, a Leadership Forum was held on the 8th Floor of USU's Digital Learning Center under the theme "Enhancing Graduate Competitiveness in the International Labor Market." Higher education, industry, and government representatives discussed the challenges of preparing globally competitive graduates.
CICEEA President Hu Haibin also committed to supporting graduate capacity building through training programs and expanded employment opportunities.
Thousands of students and alumni attended the two-day event at the Pancasila Building, with participants coming not only from USU but also from various universities across North Sumatra, including Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED), Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), Universitas HKBP Nommensen, Politeknik Negeri Medan (POLMED), and others.
Through this collaboration, USU aims to strengthen its position as a leading institution in producing high-quality graduates ready to meet international industry demands.
