Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) and the Directorate General of Taxes Regional Office I North Sumatra held another hearing, which took place in the TTU Meeting Room, USU Rectorate Building, 3rd floor, on Tuesday (23/04/2024). Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service and USU Cooperation, opened the hearing.
This meeting aims to extend the previously established cooperation between USU and the DGT Regional Office of North Sumatra I. "This meeting is the first step in extending the previously established cooperation between USU and DGT. Given that this cooperation has previously provided benefits for students, especially in taxation knowledge," said Prof. Poppy Anjelisa.
Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si, Manager of the USU Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, along with several representatives from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the USU Faculty of Vocational Studies, attended the meeting. Lusi Yuliani, Head of P2 Public Relations, and several other staff members were present from the Directorate General of Taxes of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance.
In this hearing, USU and DGT agreed to extend the existing cooperation. The validity period for this cooperation is up to three years by the maximum provisions of the cooperation agreement period of the Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Directorate General of Taxes expressed its desire to re-discuss the format of cooperation documents such as MoUs, MoAs, and IAs with USU. This discussion is needed to reorganize cooperation documents, such as MoUs, and their derivative documents, such as MoAs, with faculties or other work units at USU.
USU and the DGT also highlighted the importance of including new activities in the cooperation, including implementing the Independent Campus Learning Model (MBKM) internship for USU students at the Directorate General of Taxes. As in the previously realized collaboration, namely the Tax Corner, USU students enthusiastically participated. Therefore, the DGT hopes the MBKM program can increase student enthusiasm again.
The Director General of Taxes also said that the Head of the Regional Office of the Director General of Taxes of North Sumatra II hopes that he can conduct public lecture activities for USU students. This aims to provide guidance and understanding of taxation for final-year students at USU as prospective taxpayers.
"Students, as prospective taxpayers, are expected to not only be tax volunteers for themselves but also provide socialization to the surrounding community. Hopefully, students' enthusiasm this year will increase even more," explained Lusi Yuliani, Head of P2 Public Relations of DGT Regional Office of North Sumatra I.
