The audience was led by the Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation at USU, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si, and was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM, the Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T, and the Head of the USU International Affairs Office, Prof. Dr. Rudy Sofyan, S.S., M.Hum.
The delegation from Chung Yuan Christian University was led by Prof. Ou Te-Fen, Ph.D., as the Director of the Mandarin Learning Center, accompanied by Ms. Wu, Shih-Min, Project Manager from the same unit. On this occasion, both institutions discussed the potential for cooperation in sending Mandarin language teachers to USU, as well as the procedures that must be followed to make the program successful.
The Mandarin Chinese Teacher Dispatch Program is an initiative from the Taiwanese Ministry of Education that allows teachers from universities in Taiwan to teach Mandarin Chinese at partner universities abroad, including Indonesia. USU is one of the universities currently being considered as a partner in this program.
The meeting also highlighted the strategic role of USU's Office of International Affairs (KUI) in facilitating the arrival of foreign lecturers to USU, as well as arranging the departure of USU lecturers who will participate in training, internships, or teaching programs abroad, particularly to Taiwan.
Professor Poppy expressed her hope that this collaboration would run well and provide concrete benefits. "We welcome this program from Chung Yuan Christian University. The presence of Mandarin teachers at USU will certainly enrich language and cultural learning options, while also opening wider avenues for academic exchange and future collaboration," she said.
Both institutions will continue administrative coordination to prepare the necessary documentation, clauses, and technical procedures for the program's implementation. USU hopes this collaboration can be realized soon and become part of the campus's continuous internationalization efforts.
