Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aliyah Rizq Holdings Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based company, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Soeratman Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, USU. The signing coincided with the Faculty of Agriculture Summer Course 2025, themed “Towards Resilience and Sustainable Tropical Livestock Systems With Precision Technologies and Global Connectivity.”
The event was attended by USU leaders, including the Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnership (DIKG), Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., and the Manager of Global Partnership, Prof. Dr. Arida Susilowati, S.Hut., M.Si. Representing the partner institution was the Chief Executive Officer of Aliyah Rizq Holdings, Dato’ Seri Mohamad Nor Ashraf Bin Abu Bakar, accompanied by several representatives from Malaysia and Indonesia.
In his remarks, Prof. Himsar Ambarita expressed appreciation for the commitment demonstrated by Aliyah Rizq Holdings in building cross-sector synergy with higher education institutions.
“This MoU signing marks a strategic step that we warmly welcome. We hope this partnership will not remain a ceremonial document but evolve into a sustainable and active framework, generating tangible initiatives that directly benefit both institutions and society,” he stated.
The MoU encompasses several areas of collaboration, including bilateral education to enhance human resource capacity, research and innovation in agriculture and technology, economic development through joint investment, and long-term industrial capacity building. Both parties also agreed to follow up on this agreement by formulating a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) that will specify the cooperation mechanisms, rights and obligations, and detailed implementation plans.
CEO Dato’ Seri Mohamad Nor Ashraf emphasized the company’s optimism regarding the partnership’s potential, particularly in the agroindustry and precision agriculture sectors.
“We believe that collaboration with USU will open up research and innovation opportunities that not only benefit both parties but also make a meaningful contribution to economic development and community welfare,” he said.
The signing of this MoU is part of USU’s ongoing efforts to expand its international network and strengthen the implementation of the university’s Tridharma — education, research, and community service. Through this collaboration, the two institutions aim to initiate joint programs such as human resource training, collaborative research, and community engagement activities.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo session of all delegates, followed by a joint commitment to promptly develop a technical work plan to ensure the immediate implementation of the agreed initiatives.
With this partnership, USU and Aliyah Rizq Holdings are optimistic about creating new breakthroughs in the development of education, research, and industry — all oriented toward sustainability and long-term impact.
