Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with Prakerja, held a public lecture for USU students entitled "Opportunities and Challenges for Young People Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045". The event was held at the USU Auditorium on Friday (01/03/2024).
The public lecture was attended by several important figures, including the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, who gave the opening remarks. Also present was USU Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, M.Si, and the Head of BPRI USU, Buchari, S.T., M.Kes. The main speaker was General TNI (Ret.) Dr. H. Moeldoko, S.IP., M.Si, with Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya, SH, M.Li as the moderator.
"In facing global and local challenges, it is important for the younger generation to prepare themselves to improve the quality of human resources, adaptation to technology, and skills relevant to the needs of the times," said Prof. Muryanto in his opening remarks.
General Moeldoko delivered very meaningful content during this public lecture. He discussed the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision and the five presidential directives in the RPJMN 2020-2024, including human resource development, infrastructure, regulation, bureaucracy, and economic transformation towards digitalization. He also highlighted the importance of universities as liaisons and supporters of government policies.
"Indonesia Emas 2045 is not just a dream but a commitment to realizing an advanced and competitive nation. Universities need to be active in connecting and matching themselves with the government's needs in national development," Moeldoko said.
Economic transformation towards a green economy is also a key focus, emphasizing reducing emissions, for example, by developing renewable energy such as solar power plants and electric cars.
The event continued with a presentation of plaques and souvenirs from USU and Prakerja in appreciation for their contribution and support in organizing this public lecture. A photo session with the speakers and participants was also a valuable moment.
Not to forget, there was a very interactive question-and-answer session, which allowed participants, especially students, to ask questions directly to the presenters to gain deeper insights.
Prakerja provided Coursera vouchers for lucky participants as an additional form of appreciation. This is an opportunity for students to improve and build their skills to face global challenges in today's digital era.
