Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held another meeting on the development of laboratory mapping of Universitas Sumatera Utara on Wednesday (15/05/2024) in the Academic Senate room on the 2nd floor of the Administrative Office Building (BPA) USU. This event presented laboratory managers from various faculties at USU.

Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, together with Dr. Ir. Rahmi Karolina, ST., MT., IPM, and Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., MT, were present as speakers at the meeting. The development of laboratory mapping at USU became the main topic discussed, as well as laboratory classification, laboratory governance, Keptor laboratory arrangement, laboratory Special Cost Standards (SBK), and Laboratory Information and Management Systems (SIMALAB). Laboratory data from all faculties at USU shows there are 143 laboratories, with details of Science 125 laboratories and Social Sciences 18 laboratories. The number of laboratories is determined based on the results of mapping that has been carried out since February 18, 2023.

Regarding the Special Cost Standard (SBK), a Laboratory Management Workshop for Determining SBK was held for 16 laboratories on October 04, 2023; a trial for the Laboratory Information and Management System (SIMALAB) was conducted at the Information Systems Center. SIMALAB has been designed to facilitate the management of testing and financing based on the type of testing performed. Later, a certificate of test results will be uploaded after the test report file is uploaded.

Information on current developments and the formulation of the Rector's Decree on Laboratory Governance has been carried out with Vice Rector III, Vice Rector V and the Directorate of Law and Organization. The Head of the Integrated Laboratory Quality Assurance Division and PSI have finalized the Laboratory Information and Management System (SIMALAB), and the Integrated Laboratory will test it after the preparation of the latest Special Cost Standards (SBK) is uploaded in the Rent and Business Bill (TASHA).

The preparation of SBK needs details of the addition of tax information, namely 11% VAT and 2% income tax. Furthermore, 24 laboratories that have attended the SBK-making workshop will be directed to use SIMALAB. In addition, it is necessary to determine and detail the price of equipment in the SBK, determine the Bank for Virtual Account payment for sample testing, and determine the flow of testing services using SIMALAB for laboratories at USU.
